Picture day...

I am sure that many people have taken pictures of their aquariums, uploaded them to their computer, and wondered "do my photography skills suck that bad?" I am no exception!

I have a HP Photosmart 735 with 3.2 MP. It seems that I have to take 100 pictures just to get those few good shots. Even at that those few shots are not really that good.

I have looked on the internet for advice but have found little. Most of the advice I come across is either too general or the advice pertains to very advanced cameras.

Does anyone have good advice for taking pictures with a camera that has only 3.2 MP?

Does anyone have a link to a website that may be of some use?

I appreciate any help that I can get!

Using a tripod will really help when trying to take a good macro shot of tank.

Not sure on that camera but does it have capability to add lenses, if so get a good macro lens for it.

Play with the different white balance settings if it gives you that option to try and get a natural look of what the tank really looks like in person.

Like Steve said, good batteries and a good large memory card for the camera. One of the better things about digital is you can take 100s of pics and delete all but ore or two if you want.

What problems are you having taking pics? Color doesnt look right, blurry images, fish moving too fast for ya ;) ....

Hold the lens up to the glass if not using a tripod. You'll get less glare, and it will help you stabilize the camera. Also, dont use a flash, that will tend to make the corals look brown, and if the lens isnt up against the glass, you'll get a glare. You can also use a magnifying glass in front of the camera to get a little closer.

I use rechargeable batteries. Having lots of batteries is definately a must! I will check out the website, hopefully it has some good information.

I always use a tripod and put the camera as close to the glass as possible. I do not normally use a flash. Unfortunately I don't have the ability to change out lenses on this camera. This camera has many built in features but beyond that it is not customizable, atleast not to my knowledge.

The main problem I have is getting my macro shots to not come out blurry. I have a macro feature on my camera but it is definately not the best feature in the world. When I do get a good macro shot, it seems that when I crop the picture on the computer it gets blurry (grainy?).

Definately looks like it is chock full of information specificly pertaining to taking pictures of an aquarium. Like I mentioned earlier most websites are very general, not specific like this one.
