WOW thats one big rock!!!i've always wanted a LARGE piece of limestone full of holes for my eels in my 375, but could never find a HUGE one..hope someone can answer this for you...also figuring 1 gallon of water is 9lbs, that mean 120lbs is like 13 gallons, but the rock is not displaced like water....

I guess i will go ahead and try useing some live rock, seems a little more simple. But that big rock sure would be beautiful in my tanks. anyway thanks anyway.

I'd put a bag of sand on the bottom first. 120 of limestone or 120lbs of LR? What is the difference? it is still 120lbs. The live rock filters and does a lot more for your tank though.

would he need to worry about ph, critters, bacteria or algae?

My 175 bow front had at least 120 lbs of limestone (3 rocks) I dont see it as being a problem as long as your careful and dont put it directly on the glass

Limestone was live rock before it was compressed by the earth. The PH will do fine, but the critters, bacteria, and algae will only be able to grow on the surface since it is no longer porous. Break some limestone up and sometimes you can find fossils.

I'e used that sized rock in a 55g tank. It was fine and even if it rested on the side or back. I never let it sit on only one plane. But it must have weighed at least that much!
Like I need more things to do!
