    Default Tank surround

Since the rain kept me from sailing, I got some other stuff finally done. This is my tank surround that I almost completed on Saturday. It is just a "L" that shields the tank from my mess underneath. It is on felt and I can just slide it out of the way. Angle steel frame with a thin plywood facing. Now I've gotten around to putting oak trim to cover seams, corners, etc. Obviously I need a couple more pieces cut. It really cut down on noise and now I can junk the old canopy.

I originally was going to use the dark stain on the trim, but now I'm thinking a natural (like the contrast from the floor to the fireplace trim you can see in the bottom right or the floorboards). I'm pleased with the way the window frames the tank now.

Very nice. In the first picture, it looks like there is a hindge of some sort. Did you use a piano hinge or a regular hinge or are my eyes playing tricks on me. Again.

Do you have any problems having your left main speaker so close to the tank or does the cabinet shield the tank from excessive pressure waves?

Just tricks. The corner is an angled steel piece, not a hinge. The corner still needs the trimwork to cover that. Just ran out of oak.

Oh, that's not the left speaker. The left is behind the surround. Just kidding. Actually I've never had any issues with the speaker there that I know of and have never been concerned. Thanks for bringing up something to worry about. The powered subwoofer built in isn't actually used in that speaker and it's been that way for 8+ years so I'm not going to worry about it
