What do you have to lose? I'll pay you full price for it if you don't like it after a trial run. They should run about $125-$130 online.

Aquatek has them also. You won't be able to keep sand on the bottom though in a 45. You will need rubble or bare bottom.

What about Crushed coral on top of the sand? Will that keep the sand settled down?

hmmmmm, I doubt it. Drop by and look at mine in the 90 corner, or the 80, they move some water.

Yeah, definately would need to be behind some rocks or have some other way to lessen the force of the flow from the Tunze in that small of a tank. I tried one in my 75 and it created a huge sandstorm! The other bad thing about the Tunze is that without a controller on it, you are getting the same flow pattern all the time in the tank. It helps to have a somewhat more random flow and/or flow from different directions. While I hate having powerheads in my tank, the two I have on a Wavemaster Pro like Josh mentioned make a big difference on my tank. I'm running a Ampmaster 2100 main return pump and a Mag12 on a closed loop and I had stagnate areas before I added the Wavemaster and MJ1200's.

Wonder if instead of moving the sand I have now into the 45 and adding more sand, I could just move the sand over then add about 30 lbs of CC on top of it. That would give me about a 3/4" sand bed topped off with a few inches of CC. Then with all the rock sitting on top of it. I think that sound like it might be ok. I would hate to have to give up the sand it came from a good source, and would help seed all the new stuff.

Now should I place this thing in the back corner, and run it diaginal to the opposite front corner, or have it run front to back in the center?

In my tank now I have a mixed substrate, all of the sand has settled to the bottom with all the larger chunks on top. I think I will stick with the sand and CC on top, then just grow zoos and such on top. Have me a nice Zoanthid lawn.
