    Default Xenia death help

I have a 5 gal nano with LR and LS. I have had it for about a month, and only had a goby in it. I have a 18 watt compact on it with a 5 gal refugium. Last night I put a xenia in it, and in the morning it had shriviled up and the ends had turned green. As the day has worn on it just gets smaller and smaller, and the ends have turned black. I realize that the senia is beyond the point of no return, but I just didnt know what happened. All of the tests were at zero, so im really confused. WHATS GOIN ON???

Since you have lost them so quickly I would think it is either an acclimation or water quality issue. Ammonia and nitrite should be at zero but there are many more. parameters that should be checked on such a new tank. Nitrate, ph, alkalinity, salinity...

Also, remperature plays an important roll in the health of Xenia, higher temps, in my experience, 85° and up can kill them in a heartbeat if not corrected quickly.

also low ph will affect them. really i think you don't have enough light. a pc would be much better. on my 70gal xenia tank i have 6-55 watt pcs. and thats all i have in that tank is xenia. once my ph drops they drop. i can always tell when my ph is coming down because they tell me.
