sump question

Im still having problems with my sump. I have 2 baffles on each both to separate sump and fuge from return area. I was wondering if i take out both baffles that sep the sump and return out and only have baffles to make the fuge. Will this work? or will i still get too many bubbles. Would there be a way i can prevent bubbles from getting pumped back into my dt tank?BTW i used a 55 for my sump/fuge. If possible can someone send me their design for a sump/fuge? I think im going to start this all over and im going to need a design that will actually work.

I have a mag 12 at about 4-5 feet. I have no 90 bends. They were all replaced with 2 45s. Im thinking im getting around 600-800gph not quite sure but somewhere in between. Most of bubbles are coming from the water fall effect from high flow of water. Ive been trying to fix this for a few days and its starting to make me frustrated. Ive sealed all the piping so theres no more leaks. Overflow and waterfall is what causes all my bubbles. If you can please help me find a way to stop them from entering my tank.

i kind of want the flow since this will be my main source of flow. Im thinking of putting a mircon sock over the drain pipe but not sure what size to get. I only need it for the sump side since the drain pipe that goes into the fuge is fine.

Water from drainline flows into water since i have the pvc in the water. The splashing occurs when it falls over baffles.

I really wish i had my tank drilled...that way i could do a cloosed loop without all the piping. Then i wouldnt have to worry about flow.

So you have dams, I call baffles the thingies that have open space at the bottom to allow water to flow under them, but whatever :?

If you aren't getting bubbles from the return, and don't need the dams for any "****" good reason, I would take them out. Or add a "Baffle" after the dams - I think that configuration does a better job at letting bubles reach the surface & escape.

i have both
a dam then a baffle. then on the fuge side the same a dam and a baffle. I had dam,baffle,dam before but i took the last dam out because it was too tall. For the sump side im thinking of taking the dam out that way it doesnt spill down and cause bubbles but for the fuge side i already have sand so i cant take it out.

Here is were I copied my sump from its very close to Sump model F. I have a Mag 12 with SCWD and have no bubble problems in my 100 gallon. Hope this link helps. http://www.melevsreef.com/links.html

I had some problems with bubbles with my sump too, a 100 micron filter sock really helped out a lot. Check out the picture, you can see it in the sump.

It cleaned out the water really quickly after I put in all my live rock too. From what other people have said, it works well, just clean it out often!
