Default FW Fish keep getting sick!!!

What could cause a Green Sevrum to get fin rot every other week or so and a clown knife to not be able to get rid of clooudy eye? I have been dosing the tank with melafix and pima fix for almost two weeks now. I've never had problems with either of these fish in the past and they are both about two years old. Should I get a UV sterilizer for the tank?

I am by no means an expert but doing a search I found the common thing most sites said was poor water conditions.

Where are you at in Austin and better question are you honest? (got burned recently for $150) Asking because I have UV that is just sitting right now if you find enough info to suggest using one, I did not see anything that suggested it.

What if he is not honest but is honest about it and says NO, does he get to borrow the uv sterilizer? LOL.

Actually a sterilizer won't do much for bacterial infections. Bacterial infections are almost always the result of stress and/or poor water quality, same as in SW. I would suggest you do a 40 -50% water change and then treat with a broad spectrum antibiotic, something like Furan-2 or Tank Buddies Fungus Clear. They'll turn your water yellow but that is easily removed with carbon after the treatment is finished.

What richard said, plus, It might not hurt to change water before and after the treatments, (not during obviously.) but definatley follow richards advice, thats a pet store owner talking, and he has to know how to keep my future pets happy.
