LOL - Guess you didn't get too many points for that early present after all ;)

Crate training as above is the only hope for future restful nights!

    ROTFLMAO...

Heh...our Brussel's Griffon (Blix) was spoiled from the start and still sleeps with us every night. If he *doesn't* get to sleep with us, he will whine and carry on all most all night. Luckily, we crate trained our pug (Suki), and used the ticking clock method, plus several plush toys for her to lean against, and a nice fluffy bed. It worked very well. She gets to sleep with us on weekends, but not during the week, as she is a *total* bed hog. The crate Suki was trained in is very large, and besides having the bed in there, I had put some newspaper down also. She did occasionally soil the newspaper during the night when we first got her, but would whine when she did so...dogs don't like to soil where they lay, and will usually complain about it. I would always take her *and* the newspaper outside when she soiled it, dumping the poo on the grass so she could see where she was supposed to go. That seemed to help the point sink in much quicker than say spanking the puppy - which I would never recommend doing. A stern scolding (verbal) works much better, and the dog will be much better off mentally and physically. ;)
Best of luck to you, and congrats on the new puppy!
