Default Does anyone have a Halide fixture I can borrow?

Hey All, Got almost all my livestock moved into the 110 temporary tank, but a small technical snag has hitched me up. My Halide is tripping my GFI, I thought, maybe I overloaded the circuit and plugged it in in another room, still trips... I think maybe there is an issue with the ballast or something... it's old so it may just be it's time.

My problem is I don't have enough cash right now to replace it, and I have a couple SPS colonies and some anemones that need the light penetration.

Can anyone help a fella out? I will buy ya a reasonalby priced coral or fish in a couple months if so.

I am planning on purchasing the 115 cube next week (already put money down on it) and a T5 setup shortly after that, I can buy a coralvue halide set instead.

    Thanks guys.

I have a few 4 ft PC set ups with bulbs you can borrow, but no MH laying around.

Misti, I will take it. Can I get it from you at the meeting tomorrow? I really appreciate it, I have only about 120 watts of pc light over the tank right now, so anything will help.

It may be your GFI. I had the same problem and it was solved after I replaced the GFI. Alton told me that that usually fail on, not off, but that wasn't the case in my situation. The little circuit board they have on the cheaper GFI's is made out of paper and moisture can make them fail. The commercial GFIs use a plastic circuit board that is less likely to fail because of moisture.

well, I tried my Halide in three different rooms with 4 different GFI's (I have a 'portable' GFI that came with all that free equipment, I can't attest to it's quality, but it looks pretty snazzy and makes a very satisfying 'thump' when it shuts off, as opposed to the whimps (probably cheapies) in my apartment that make a tiny click when it goes...

Anyhow, it is definately the fixture not sure what I am going to do with it. has a 14K bulb in it with only a month on it, and now, as soon as I can I will be buying my new T5 setup and 250 watt halides... :| feels almost like a waste of money... almost.

Also, thanks for all the help everyone, this goes to show you EXACTLY why MAAST is such an awesome club, if it wasn't for you guys, I would be up proverbial creek without paddle. THANK YOU.
