Yes, I'd have to say I am relieved that he pulled through. It was tough for awhile there though. The growth got really huge in one spot on his left gill area with smaller growths on his fins. There seems to be some very slight damage to the flesh in the gill area, but you have to look really hard to see it - thankfully he never got a secondary infection.
Tim - I had thought about doing that, but since I get a lot of evaporation in that tank, I was worried that the change would be too quick and also that nitrates might also elevate?
Diego - Yes, it *did* take a long time! At first we were only dosing with formalin, but I think what finally did the trick was the lowered salinity ;) . It would seem to get better, and then he'd get more growths with just the formalin treatment. He never seemed to be stressed about being in QT though, and has consistantly been eating like a little pig the whole time.
I'm hoping he's not going to have any kind of relapse once he's back in the display. At least he has another happy little clown buddy in there already to show him the ropes. I'm planning to set up the 45G DAS tank we have sometime in the near future, and just make it into a nice clown condo - get a pretty RBTA...maybe a few zoo colonies...hot tub in the back...heheheh. :-D
