Thread: Sump/fuge cycling

    Default Sump/fuge cycling

I'm turning my trickle filter into a refugium and wanted to know if it is necessary to cycle the refugium like my 120gal tank. I've already replace the trickle filter with a 40 gal rubbermaid. Right now I don't have any fish, just LPS, LS, and LR. Any suggestions?

    hi QuakQuak,

you only need to cycle yoru fuge if you are populating it with UNcured liverock, live rock rubble, or live sand that, if your buying your live substrate (rock or sand) from a LFS and it is pre-cured, kept in water for the voyage home, and added directly to your fuge, you can treat it like adding any other animal to your tank.

    have a good one.
