    Default Rose Anemone Question??

Okay, well im wondering if a rose anemone would do good in a 20 gallon long tank with 2 55 watt power compacts, 1 of them is a 10,000k and other is actinic blue, total watts is 110watts for the 20 gallon, ive noticed my mushrooms and xenia are doing fabulous, also starting to grow coraline algea on bottom of glass as it's a bare bottom!! any info is appriciated!!

personally, I am not sure, they are light loving anemone's and rely heavily on their symbiotic algae, and of course you know 110 watts of power compacts is far different than 110 watts of metal halide. Mushrooms do well in low light situations, rose anemones do not, so one is not a good indicator for the other.

There are also multiple varieties of E. Quadricolor (bubble tip anemone) a small colonial one that live high on the reef in light rich conditions, a small soitary form that lives lower on the reef, and a larger variety that is colonial (colonial forms reproduce readily through division) in other words you could end up with a low light form, but doubtful, as most collection is probably done as easily as possible, i.e. closer to the surface.

I think it is also a popular belief that feeding heavily can make up for low light conditions, but that is debateable.

I think your biggest concern in a 20 gallon tank wouldn't be the light, but salinity fluctuation.

however, take it with a grain of salt, I have only had one for about 4 months or so and mine bleached a few weeks ago, though, thankfully, not all the way, it still has some green to it, so there is symbiotic algae left, it can hopefully recover.

I have had my BTA in a 20g without any trouble, but I also have a 5g ozarka bottle dripping to keep the salinity as right on as possible. With a 175w MH I evap around 3/4g per day so the drip is a must I think
