    Default Battery Backup Surge Protector

I am using a CyperPower battery backup surge center for the pumps and lights (pumps on battery backup only). I have had a few instances of the unit shutting down and not auto restarting. I sent an email to the company and they say, "the owner's manual specifically says not to use the unit near or with an aquarium." I was thinking of just going to a surge protector and not messing with the batter backup anymore.

    Any thoughts?

How many amps of equipment are you running on it? You could be overloading the fuse(s) in the device and that is why it won't automatically come back on. Pumps and lights draw a lot of power. I would try taking the lights off of it and see how that works. If your power goes out, the most important things to the well being of your tank is keeping the temperature stable and keeping oxygen levels up.

    Markster,

PM Alton. He has a UPS hooked up to his tank in his office. He's an electrician and could probably give you some good advice on it. His tank survived a power outage that wasted his boss's tank. Aton is VERY sharp on these kinds of issues.

    Markster,
try a 1000 watt computer battery backup unit, this will provide about 12 hours for a small punp and heaters.
