PinPoint Salinity Monitor?

I have a PinPoint salinity monitor - LOVE IT!

But ... it eats 9v batteries for breakfast! I would like to run it nearly 24x7, but it will go through a battery in less than a week if I leave it on. I have an AC power supply for it, but when I connect it to the power supply, I get constant varying readings? I thought it might be due to stray voltage, so I installed a ground probe, but that didn't help.

It works fine when run off a battery.

Anybody have any experience with this monitor and if it is possible to use a power adapter?

there is a really terrible article about these giving erratic readings on RC. Maybe this was because of the same thing. If I keep my aquacontroller constantly hooked up to my computer, it gives erastic PH reading due to a ground fault between the controller and the computer. They sell an isloater, maybe you need something similar for yours?

Radio Shack sells a "9V battery eliminator" It has clips that mimic a 9V battery posts. You just clip it in and plug it into the wall. You may have to cut a little notch in the battery cover to fit the cord.

I did this for my salinity monitor and it worked great. No varying readings at all.

That's what I have, but it from PinPoint, not RadioShack? Maybe I should get out my voltmeter and see what it is actually supplying? Maybe a RS model would work better?
