acro's and leathers

We are planning on moving all of our acros from the 10g to the 100g where we currently have some very large leathers. We know you shouldn't house them together so we are moving the leathers to the 37g. So I was wondering if we should do a water change after we get the leathers out of the 100g but before we put in the acros and should we wait a few days before putting the acros in to make sure all the leather toxins are out of the water? Or am I being paranoid?

Paranoid or not....A water change can never hurt. Do it.

is it really a problem to house acros and leathers together? i have some acros and a leather in a 100g and neither seem to be affected. they are preaty far apart though.

Leathers can release a lot of sarcotoxides, which are quite detrimental to SPS corals. It causes reduced growth, tissue necrosis and possibly death. Some SPS specimens are less affected by this, but it is still generally not recommended.

is there any more info about coral compatability here somewhere? I have a big old leather too and would hate to see my other corals suffer b/c of him!
