Thread: Need machine work on some rc car parts

Default Need machine work on some rc car parts

Anyone have a small precise lathe or access to?

I am tyring to drop a 4 stroke .26 OS engine in my old Yokomo GT-4, and need the flywheel machined and a collet and engine mounts made.
Checked some local machine shops and everyone wanted way too much money....I could buy my own mini-lathe for what they were asking.

Would happily trade the machine work for beer, time, zoanthid frag, or my cat that refuses to use the litter box!

I'll do just about anything for a cat that refuses to use a litter box.

    LMAO...you slay me, dude!

    Hey, Emo -
My hubby is into RCs and has a lot of equipment, although I couldn't tell you if he's got what you need. Shoot us a PM, and I'll make sure he sees it. Maybe we'll be able to help you out.

I just want an aquarium big enough for an RC submarine and a big octopus so I can play 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.

Y'know, I thought about doing that in my 135 to chase the lunar wrasse around when he was being an irritation (which was about 90% of the time) but I figured the trigger would probably just make it lunch. :-D

    Emo-
At one time I could have helped you out but I swapped the lathe for a 3hp .21 Picco for my 1/10th Serpent Mpact. It fit pretty good with a few mods. I never did figure out the top end in that car due to the lack of running room but I bet it would break 90mph- I may even find out some day. I think it is almost too fast.
I will see if I can't get my hands on a lathe for you.

    Chris,

That Serpent sounds pretty wicked! The GT-4 formerly housed a NovaRossi turbo .12 that was tuned by some guy up north whos name I cant remember(pretty famous engine guy who died in the past couple years...Ive been outta the hobby too long). I had it geared for foamies and short tracks but it was still a fast little sucker
It would be great if you could get some lathe time for me.
    Thanks

    Emo,

Still trying to track down the guy I sold the lathe to.
I have also been out of the hobby awhile- nobody wants to race with me. :(
Of course the guys I used to run with think I'm nuts because of this frankenstein of a car.
Figured I would throw up a pic of the Serpent. Maybe some time we can get together and run.
The trickiest part of this mod was trying to cram a 1/8 pipe into a 1/10-
that required a little creativity. I just bought a POS body because I had to hack it to death to make it work as you can see.

I will keep you informed of the lathe progress.
