Thread: Random Act of Kindness

    Default Random Act of Kindness

ONe of my friends owns a carnivorous plant nursery up in Austin, and he was recently at a bankruptcy auction where they were clearing out items from a pet supply company. (don't know which one.)

Anyhow, for the grand sum of 80 some odd dollars he made off with some cool stuff. Then turned around and just gave it to me. What a nice guy!

3 DW - 300 Commercial Grade UV filters from what i can tell this is a discontinued model, but the similar model the aquafine corp still makes is the DW - 8, and it retails around 800.00.

I also got a massive sediment and carbon pre-filter (the filters are about 2 times larger than the ones on my RO system.

What really has me excited though, are my two, al most new, shiney (after I cleaned them up, and super spiffy Iwake MD - 70RLT's. 1500 GPH, 31.8 ft of Head Pressure.

Ahh, the larger tank is so much closer now than it was! ;)

Oh, nothing is for sale, I only plan on keeping only one uv filter for my tank, one for my wifes, and the other I already have lent to a friend for testing.

Quick question, there are some spots on the Iwakis 'boots' (where you screw them down) that look like they were over tightened, and the paint has flaked off. anyone know a good way to re-seal it? I was thinking of just zapping them with rustoleum epoxy enamel.

Rattle can paint sounds like a good plan. Just be sure to scuff the old paint with a scotch brite cleaning pad so it doesnt start to peal on you.

Thanks Mike... will take care of it this weekend, I am not in a big hurry, I am moving in march and won't be setting up any new tanks between now and then.
