    Default Trigger eating greens

I've started adding greens(nori, lettuce, zucchini, broc, etc) to the tank since I added a new tang the other day and noticed that the Blue Throat Trigger eats the greens. He is only interested when the others are eating them. He will not touch any green stuff that grows in the tank either. Anyone else have a trigger that eats anything. He's also started spitting and jump at fingers.

My niger trigger eats greens too! it gets excited when the tangs start ripping the seaweed of the clip and little pieces float around.

wheeew...I thought that I was the only one who had a veggie eating trigger. :-D

StephenA- Just a quick note and possible point of interest...I've been reading Bob Fenner's "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist" from cover to cover, and he discourages the use of non-marine origin veggies (such as lettuce, broccoli, etc) being fed to marine fish. Says many terrestrial plants contain too much oxalic acid, have too little nutritive value, and can contain possible residual pesticides. Much better to stick to "sea origin" veggies, and brine shrimp (and the like) for bulk and growth. Bob is an amazing source of info...have you ever checked out wetwebmedia.com?

My lunar wrasse and coral grouper are also eating the greens I give to my tang. I even found the wrass picking some of the algae off the rocks.

I really think you will enjoy the book. He also co-wrote another with Anthony Calfo - "Reef Invertebrates, An Essential Guide..." which you may also find interesting. Oh, BTW...you will find his books under 'Robert Fenner', but he goes by Bob on Wet Web Media.

I have one of those books...I read it before I was addicted to this hobby. It never talked about the addiction though. Hymm! Great Book!
