    I need some info please
heres my question. I want to get an anemone for my two clown fish (perciulas clowns) hope the spelling is right. I have a 70gal I am running T5 high performance flor lights about 110w Is this enough light. and which anemone would be best and where is the best place tp get it in San Antonio. In the tank I have a yellow tang,2 clowns and a chocolate chip starfish. Will this even be possible?
    THANK YOU

I think most of the veterans here (of which I am not one) will recommend against it. Anemones need quite a bit of lighting. I have 260W PC over our 100, and plan to upgrade lighting before adding an anemone.

Some say you can do it with lower lights but I am not one of them. The day I switched from PC to MH my anemone started to do better and he is now very healthy. Before with the PC he lost color and size and his tips never bubbled. T5's may be enough, I do not know. As far as where to get them, it depends on what you want. If you want a bubble tip, BTA, them you need to decide if you want tank raised or wild caught. The wild caught rose BTAs are all over the stores now and cheap too. But their survival in the home is not good. I found a captive one off ebay and it is doing great. I then bought a wild caught and it did well for a few months then one day died. The captive one cost 3 times more but it is still alive and doing well. If you go with wild caught BTA go to fin addict.

Different question for you. You have T5 lights so you do want to do a reef with corals, right? Then why do you have a chocolate chip starfish? This starfish will much all of your corals. It is not considered reef safe.

There is not enough possiblities for wave length or total watts with 110w of T5 HO lights for an anemone. It would surely die in that setup.

Instar- Do you think this applies for all anemones, or just the natural hosts for percs? I'm asking because to me RBTA's seem to be able survive in less intense light setups, don't you think?

I was very successful raising BTA clones in my 40 with only 2 95w power compacts (1 actinic, 1 daylight). I also kept a green carpet for many months under the same lights but it is much happier under a 250W MH.
