    Default MH Bulbs

I have had my first MH bulbs (Venture 175w 10K) in place now for nine months. I run them eight hours a day. I understand that you can't tell when they need to be replaced so get in the habit to do them in 12 months. If that is the case, I am thinking of changing brands. I see Ushio, XM, and Coralvue. Anyone have any ideas for me?

    Mark,
If you want to use CoralVue bulbs I can get them for you for $50 + tax each. You can get them im 10K, 14K or 20K. Let me know.

Markster, Xm's have pretty good reputation, mine is slightly yellow, but I am not entirely sure it isn't my ballast doing it. If you want to stay with 10K, I think an xm is great, however, I am personally thinking of getting coralvue or hamilton 14K next time, I want a little bluer light.

I have been using Blueline 14K bulbs. Nice color but you give up coral growth for color. I'm picking up a set of XM 10K's from Joshua tonight.

    I have 2 X 250 watt MH and 2 X 140 watt VHO actinics in my 125 gal.

Coralvue or megachrome (geissman). I am getting two retro kits from Greg at 360reef farms. They are coralvue t-5 actinics, but he sells halide bulbs at the best prices I have ever seen! Cheaper than the wholesale prices I used to get halides for....
