Default CL-650 Replacement Parts - Good Experience!

I have a Pacific Coast 1/4HP CL-650 chiller that is a little over a year old. I had it plugged into a power strip with other stuff, and I expect this has caused a problem, much like the need to plug a freezer into its own 110 outlet (something about current pull at startup?).

It still seems to cool fine, but often when starting the fan makes a horrible noise like a bearing has gone bad & it will cycle on and off a few times before it gets up to an operating RPM level.

Have I diagnosed the problem correctly? The fan motor is fried?

Anybody know where I can get a replacement fan for this unit, or specs?

    Thx - Steve

    Steve,

What part of town are you in? I can give a friend a call and see if he would like to work on it. To me, it sounds like the evaporator fan is going out. I will let you know.

My buddy just called, and he passed on it. Sorry! You might try an appliance company that works on Refrigerators?

Thanks for trying! I got the number for the MFG from Premium Aquatics & called them. The suggested WD40'ing the fan, and if that doesn't help, they have replacement parts.

If anyone ever needs the contact info, I spoke with Tim:

    Steve,

I am a Wd-40 hater!!! Try a silicon spray. WD-40 will start to gum up, and with the heat from the motor and unit, it will only cause more problems than what is worth. WD-40 is primarily a penetrating lube to braek frozen bolts with, and that is it!!

The fan motor on my Chiller is definately fried. The WD40 just made it scream louder! So I called Pacific Coast Imports today (Sunday!) so I could hear ther recording and get their hours.

Surprise, "Steve" answered, listened to my diagnosis, and a NEW fan motor will be in the mail Monday morning!!!!

    Did I mention I bought the chiller a little over 1 year ago! :-D :-D :-D

I wish the guy doing our Kitchen counter tops was this responsive

So - lots of customer satisfaction points for Pacific Coast Imports  and none for the kitchen counter dude

never ever use WD 40 for an electric fan motor. I have used a mix of Liquid wrench and Electric motor oil to break loose a motor but after it was broke loose I used Electric Motor Oil you can pick it up pretty easy. Comes in a small bottle with a looooooong thin snout that you put into the oil hole of the fan motor and fill it. But what you got is pretty normal these new electric motors will usually only last a year. You will find the same thing on lots of window units as well now. But if you did not have any oil holes in the fan motor then the only thing you can do is do what you did and replace the fan motor. You can also get new ones from granger when the warrenty is gone.
