    Default macro algae in sump

I am considering putting macro algae in my sump so that my RBTA remains healthy. What wattage of PC's will I need and how long do you run them? Will the algae clog my skimmer or pumps? Thanks for any advice.

You could use an egg crate cage to keep the macro from your pumps and skimmer. I have macro under 2x18 w T-8s and it is growing well. I don't think that you need a ton of light. I think that a lot of people are using a flourscent spot light from lowes.

I have a 55w PC light that would work well if you want it for $15, and I will give you come cheato. Great stuff because it doesn't need sand and grows super fast.

there is a 65K light you can get at home depot, it costs 9 dollars, and will light your macro just fine, a ton of people are using it, I have two. I forget the brand name, but it is a power compact, screws into a medium base (the same sockets you have all over your house) has a built in reflector, you can set the whole shebang up for less than 20 bucks.
