Oh, mine came with the little wisper flow filter that hung inside by a suction cup then the powerhead hooked to the bottom to push water up through it and out the top. I didn't use the filter but the power head worked great for circulation.

Of course this is just what I did. With just corals, a shrimp, and a emerald crab I didn't really find the need for carbon doing the weekly water changes.....but to each their own!
