well i have a 5.5 fuge planned for the tank and i will be doing probably weekly water changes. so you guys dont think a skimmer would help out that much huh? i want to do a species specific tank with this mb7, i want 3-4 yasha haze gobies and 2-3 randalli pistol shrimp. plus tons of acros, zoos, and rics if i can find someone to sell me some!!!! :P

On my old 10 gallon nano, i used a 5.5 gallon fuge and a prizm skimmer on the fuge. It worked great.

yeah i mean i did a 10 gallon with nothing but 2 hob filters and it turned out great but this time i am doing acros and i have to keep a close eye on my water parameters to make sure they not only stay alive but grow as well. i guess im wondering whether just water changes once a week will be enough compared to that AND skimming.

I have had my nano cube running for 4 or 5 months now, and Im wanting to add a skimmer to it. Even with weekly water changes my nitrates problably alittle higher then they should be. There is about 10 gallons of total water volume in it. Even with 2 20% changes a week it didnt seem to help. Now Im back to one a week. Nitrates really seem to go up, but they never go down either. Im in the planning stages of adding on a sump now. I think Im going to end up with a skimmer in it. I'll see how much nitrates improve after the sump is hooked up.
