Thread: Bryopsis ?

  1. #1

    Default Bryopsis ?

I have a small patch starting and I want to clean it off NOW !!! The question is, its on my clams shell and I was wondering if I can take it out pick it off and scrub with a brush without hurting the clam? Can the clam be out of water for a bit? How would you suggest cleaning it off?

I have a clam that I have to take out about once a month to scrub stuff of. I use a stiff potatoe brush, then I rinse him in RO. He loves it!

Is he out of the water or do you keep him in as you do it?

I keep him out over the sink. I spend about 3min doing it.

    Pete,

I had a few small patchs in my tank. I put a foxface in them, not for the bryopsis, but to clean up a little bubble algae. The foxface took care of the bryopsis too. They are algae eating machines.

Make sure you "burp" the clam after having it out of water. After you have the clam back in your tank, Rock it back and forth until all the air bubbles are out.

While you have it out of the water, check it for rice grain size and colored snails. They usually live between the scales. It's best to check for these after your lights go out.
