I checked http://www.cuttingboardcompany.com but they want $175.78 for a board for my tank which seems a bit high since there is a store here in town that sells it for $75 but they only have it in white :( . I didn't want to go white but for $100 dollars less white will have to do.

This is probably due to higher demand from reefers and they can hear the ka-ching-ka-ching. I read a post on RC about star board and the link to "line the bottom of your reef tank" was just added. If you know someone that is in the restaurant business have them give a call. It will probably be cheaper.

After the board is in doesnt "slime" and stuff build under it between the glass and along the edges?

It looks good, but not natural.
