I have a small issue. I purchased a pendant recently, and was planning on running it off my ARO electronic ballast. Well, the pendant has 3 wires, 2 for the bulb and one for ground. The ballast only has 2. both for the bulb. I really dont want to go cutting and splicing the ballast. Is there any other way to ground it? Also, is the ground necessary from the pendant? Thanks!

You want to ground the pendant. Attach the ground wire to the metal part of the pendant with a screw or some solder.

It will work without the ground but it is always safer to connect a ground wire.

wait a min, the ground comes from the pendant. So, i should ground it to itself?

Alex the pendant is grounded already. You have the three wires coming out of the pendant. The green is the ground. From what I saw of your ballast, you want to take the green from the pendant to the ground on the ballast input. Your ballast has two outputs to the bulb. Yellow & green I think I remember it to be. These wires would go to the bulb wires (black & white). So another words the ground from the pendant goes to the ground from the wall except you can catch it at your input to the ballast. Grounded DONE!

see but that involves cutting the ballast input wires, which is what i wanted to avoid. I just cant stand the thought of all those chopped up wires.

I thought I saw a place you could get it pretty easy. Three wire nutts. On the input side. Or was I seeing stuff.

Attach the green ground wire from the pendant to any metal part on the ballast. Make sure that the ground wire touches some bare metal and you should be good to go.
