    Default Plankton advice

I just got this in a PM and it is a good question and I am wondering if you all agree with my advice. Here is the PM:

    Hey Steve,
My cleaning crew came in today.
I was wondering what I need to feed my Yellow Gorgonian and my Atlantic Feather Duster? I was looking at: Two Little Fishies Marine Snow or Kent Phytoplex Plankton.
Are these the right things? What would you recommend?

    And here is my responce:

I use, and pretty much everyone one else, DT's phytoplankton. It's about the only thing I do not buy online. I buy all frozen foods and DT's at the LFS. I know they have it at partners right down the street from you. Here is how you need to buy DT's. First check the expiration date on the bottle. The turn the bottle upside down. See if there is excessive settlement on the bottom of the bottle (the bottle is see through). The bottle should be shaken every so often so that there should not be excessive settlement. The LFS stores really never take the time to do this. I have never found a bottle that does not have some settlement. Then, before you buy it, open the top seal and squeeze the bottle to let all the air out, do this away from your nose. Then wait a second and smell inside the bottle. It will stink. But if it is so bad that you fall over and puke, then the bottle is no good. After you buy a bottle use the care instructions on the bottle. You probably do not need to feed as mush as recommended because you do not have that big of a demand. Hope this helps.
