    Default Watchman Goby

Possibly looking to get a Watchman Goby for the Pistol Shrimp I found out I have. Wanted to get some opinions on what others have & why.

    Thanks!

I bought a watchmangobie/shrimp pair about two years ago, and the gobie died a year later. I waited a year till I got the perfect gobie for the shrimp, big mistake, the shrimp doesn't listed to the gobie!! He shakes his finns and no responce from the shrimp!! Since the gobies about 1 1/2 in. long and the srimps topping 4 almost 5in. he sometimes pushes the gobie outta the way to get to food The both still hang out, but the gobie gets no respect!!

I have a Randall's Goby that is cute and social. He likes to leave his shrimp and come out to say hi to everyone. I also have an orangespotted shrimp goby that fiercely protects his prawn even though the shrimp looks more like a lobster he is so huge. Then I have a gorgeous yellow shrimp goby that is very lonely, he has had bad luck with shrimp. My favorites are definitely the yellow and the Randall's. The Randall's has the best personality and the yellow is the "underdog" so you just have to love him. Hopefully one of these days I will have luck finding the yellow a friend.

I know I have a Pistol.....but I haven't seen him, so I don't know his size. He apparently hijacked some LR! Haven't added any new LR for at least 8 months or so. I know it's a pistol instead of a mantis cause I still have my peppermint shrimp & my 2 hijacker crabs. And once lights out....he starts clicking away. Wondering how it would react to having a Goby buddy after a while of being alone. If he doesn't, guess I'll just enjoy the Goby. Would hope that the Goby would draw the Pistol out. Misti...where did you get your Randall, Orange Spotted and your Yellow?

Malo....what type of Watchman Goby was it?

    BTW....thanks for the info.

I got my Randall at Austin Aquariums, my orange spot at AQSS, and my yellow at Petland.

If the goby and pistol do not connect it is not a problem. One of my pairs took 8 months to start to play together!
