    Default Cooling Fans

Just a suggestion for some of ya'll. I was having problems with keeping the temp of my tank down. I was resorting to turning off my MH's whenever the temp got up in the afternoon.

This weeking I pulled my hood off and cleaned my cooling fans. Not only did I get handfulls of "stuff" out of them, they are much quieter and run much more efficiently. My temp has been maxing out around 81 in the afternoon since I cleaned them. I thought I was going to have to replace one of my four fans. Its working fine now that it has been cleaned. Admittedly, these aren't the greatest fans. They are only rated at 30 cfm, but it seems like they will be OK for now. I have other higher priority projects that need $ right now. If they hold up for a while, I'll just address this issue on my next tank.

Anyway, I was hoping that someone out there would learn from my mistake. I would suggest that you add fan cleaning to your list of routine maintenance items.
