I had peppermints do a pretty good job on aiptasia, but they also devoured 3 dozen small button polyps in a matter of days.

I've also had pretty good results with joe's juice, just make sure they actually eat the stuff before closing up.

I haven't noticed any other damage from my peppermint except him picking at my sand sifting starfish which I think had been attacked by a hijacker crab. Setting a crab/shrimp trap tonight. Ended up losing my starfish I've had almost a year.

Glad to see your prob solved, SuperX...

Sherri, I've had the peppermints eat yellow polyps, montipora digitata polyps (although the montis didn't seem to care), Tubastrea coral and killed it, a medium Sebae anemone, killed it, tunicates all devoured from the entire tank, star polyps aggrivated and picked at, cucumbers picked at until dead. Basically anything thats soft or anything they can stick pinchers into the mouth of and rip the guts out of it. That means all LPS with individual polyps are subject and all anemone polyp type animals. Not sure what they would do with brains but after watching them kill so many things I decided that they had their place for cleaning aiptasia but this would have to be done in another tank or in my sump. The peppermints also ate all of my feather caulerpa in another tank. Definitely will NOT be in any other community tank I have or in my macro refugiums.

Brewercm, sometimes you can poke the base of the aiptasia and get them to let go. I use a sharp tip stainless steel forcep to do that and it works pretty well. And then they become Berghia food. That part I enjoy.

Thanks Larry...haven't seen in other damage to anything else yet...but since I don't have anymore aiptasia, guess he'll start looking elsewhere...guess if he's the one I trap tonight...he'll be going to the Q tank until someone else needs/wants one or whatever...he was definitely munching big time on my injured starfish.

Okay can anyone give me the low down on the majano ones? I got a rock from Joshua that had several Aiptasia and within a couple of days they were gone I think from my peppermint shrimp but they will not touch the other Aiptasia so I think they must be the Majano ones.
