Default Now what. Was: I'm gonna be sick

After finally taking the plunge and purchasing a BTA and being unbelievably pleased with it, I made a diasterous mistake and didn't protect my powerhead. Painful lesson to learn that after keeping my version of a "reef tank" for over ten years when I can still make what should be rookie mistake in not taking the proper precautions.

Trying to make sure I learn the lesson.

Maybe the saddleback will be happy just chasing another fish.

I actually had that happen recently. I had a Marineland Penguin? power head in the tank and it came off the class and sucked up my LTA even with the screen over it. I will never buy those powerheads again as they only have one suction cup to hold them in place. The Maxijets have three.

    Default Now what

This morning when I discovered all this, I didn't know what to do. I took the powerhead out with anemone attached, looking like a rubber glove streached over it, put it in a bucket with some tank water and went to work.

Returning home, I discover it's not dead, but moving - part of the tentacles are full. In general looks terrible, but seems like it wants to live.

Since, I've put it back, with the intake of teh powerhead, which it's firmly still stuck in certain places. Part of the animal looks fairly okay, while other parts look badly damaged.

The clown has shown some love in addition to picking at some of the worst looking parts. I'm not sure if it's just feeding or instinctively trying to clean wounds (likely wishful thinking)

My long tentacle urchine seems like its looking for lunch in the BTA direction. (I've got other worries about it in I will post separately)

I've built a egg-crate cage to somewhat protect it. My thoughts are right now is that I'd prefer to have it in a quarrantine tank, but lacking one with good water and light, it's in the main tank.

Is it just wishful thinking that it might survive somehow? Any other suggestions on what to do. Interesting enough, my wife pointed out that tentacles ripped off were both full and moving even with no current.

This happen to me just the other day. LTA on the move did'nt even think it would get sucked in as he is pretty large. Sucked into large powerhead. Took the strainer off the pump with the Anenome sucked through it. Let them both rest in the tank with that pump off the rest of the day. I think I got lucky, he is looking fine.

I went to work & when I got home he had pulled himself back through the strainer. Did not look to be very damaged just a little deformed. Has filled himself up, Extending fine & starting to seat himself.

    Good luck
