    Default help! Cracked tank!

We're in a bit of a bind here, our 75gal cracked and we have our fish in buckets. Would anyone know of a place in San Antonio (Austin for that matter) that sells things like wet/dry filters and has them in stock? Also, does anyone down here repair tanks? We'd like to get a 100gal+ freshwater (no salt until we get a house) and would like a wet/dry system, but this isn't something you can go to Petsmart and obtain. Any instant messages or IRC chats would be appreciated, have to move a little quick on this. Thank you in advance.

    Default thanks

Thanks for the help - I see that the fish community here in south texas is surprisingly active. I'm an amateur myself, haven't really done much with fish except for eat them. The missus is an enthusiast and I learned that having a tank is a nice hobby. Unfortunately, it seems that ours didn't last long and we're going shopping tomorrow to buy a new one. Appreciative of your help, if anyone has any advice on how to setup a 100-125gal wet/dry freshwater I could sure use it - I'd really like to simplify the 25% water changes, I wind up going to Albertsons and getting their cleaned water with four five-gallon jugs every two weeks. There has to be an easier way.

dont know much about fresh water ,do know a ton about salt water, you should try it bet you like it. once you try salt you'll never go back to fresh.

    Default salt tank

I'd like to eventually, but I know next to nothing about a salt tank. The thought of killing fish, espically colorful $50 ones, doesn't sound appealing. I'm also looking for low-maintenance, I know there are ways to simplify the process with salt but it kind of escapes me. Water changing methodologies aren't something that people tend to talk about at these sites. I will eventually, but how well do salt tanks break down and move? We're not planning on staying in this particular town (New Braunfels) for over a year. I'd hate to lose everything.

Rich, I don't know too much about fresh water, hopefully someone else will see this and help you out a little. but as far as the water changes I think RO/DI filter is in order for you. They run anywhere from $75-200 per unit. Have you ever thought of using an ehiem canister filter on your tank instead of a wet/dry. much less noise and very realible. Possibly something like 2217 or something like that

Rich, if you decide to go with a canister filter Texasstate has my old canister, well not old!!, its a 2218 and rated for a 90gall. tank. I think he has it for sale for $70 I think. You might wanna P.M. him
