Help plumbing new RO/DI

Well, Here is my problem.

The feed water for my new RO/DI unit is supplied (like most) with a valve that has a puncture needle. I was supposed to puncture the pipe and then drill out an 1/8 in hole and reattach the valve. Well, I had braided tubing, which did not work (I knew it wouldn't), so the guy at Lowe's sait to use the flex PVC. Well ... that didn't work either. Can anybody tell me what I need to do?????????

If the hook up is 3/8" just replace your shut off with this ...

It is 3/8, but how do I connect the plastic tubing (feed to RO/DI) to the metal housing???

Compression fittings also work for plastics, but you may need an adaptor. Take the line with you and ask the plumbing guy at home depot or lowes how to hook it up. If the guy knows and the parts are there, he'll fix you up. Trouble with this hook up (above) is that you can't shut of the RO without shutting off your sink line too. You'll have to add a second valve for just your RO line.

Here ya go. Only problem with this is what Larry mentioned. If you turn off your RO/DI, you trn off your cold water to your sink. Also I've noticed that with this valve, it doesn't completely shut down your RO/DI. Water still leaks through a bit. You could get a feed water adapter from marinedepot that is made specifically for supplying water to a RO/DI and will not shut off your sink when you close the valve. http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewIt...product=RO1315

They sell valves with all different sizes. I changed mine with the 2 outlet valve. And the compression fitting will work fine for the tubing of your RO unit.

If you are not hooking it directly to a reserve (auto top off) you can put a plastic valve (if it didnt come with one) on the line coming out of the RO unit and shut it down from there when not in use.

... and yet another option.
