I'd suggest "The coral reef aquarium" by Ron shimek. It's by far the best book I've seen for the new reefkeeper. It really explains the basics in a clear, concise manner, leaving out many of the mind boggling details and options. Once you're finsihed with that, "Aquarium Corals" by Eric Borneman is a good comprehensive reference for identification and captive care issues with all sorts of corals.

julian sprungs oceangraphic series " invertebrates" " corals" and "algea" quick reference guides, are nice to have. scott michaels " 500+ marine fish quick reference guide" is nice to have to check fish compatabilities, is nice to have also!

Aquarium Corals by Eric H Bornman

Gives good info on all corals. How to pronounce the latin names, how they do in the reef aquarium etc.
