Default Need help with my unique sump design ...

My tank sits on a stand that has 3 cubby holes in the bottom. I would like to design my sump so that from the tank the water enters the far left cubby where some filtration will take place (carbon, polyfilter, skimmer). I would then like for the water to pass to the middle cubby which will be a refugium. Finally, in the right cubby will be my return pump.

Each cubby is separated by a wooden divider. Any ideas on how to get the water to pass from the filtration cube (left cubby) to the refugium cube (center cubby)??? From the refugium to the returm pump is easy. I will just have to drill a hole to connect the bulkhead to the return pump. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Josh, It will only be 2 containers. The third will house my return pump. By redundant tubes, I assume you mean multiple tubes? I will talk to you on Friday about the design.

    Dan, Each compartment is an identical square ... about 16"W x 16" H x 15" deep

1.5 inch bulkheads to connect the two sumps with PVC and 1 inch bulkheads just above your waterline connecting them as an emergency overflow.

    Dan,

    The tank is 65g.

    Tim,

How would the emergency overflow work .. or, I guess, are you suggesting these would be there in case the 2 lower bulkheads clogged?

Also, Where is the best place to buy acrylic and acrylic accessories and all the plumbing parts?

There might be a branch there, its nation wide. There is one in Austin and Fort Worth, so I figure there is one in SA.
