I have never owned a copperband, but I believe they are fairly reef safe. From what I have read, they can vary from fish to fish and they will sometimes nip at corals. Also, getting them to eat can sometimes be difficult, but that is true of many types of fish. I would only recommend that you get the LFS to hold it for you for a few days as they just got it in to make sure it is healthy and unwinds from its stressful travels.
