    Default black silicone

I just bought a tube of blackGE silicone II from home depot to silicone the black overflow to the tank! Then I read- NOT FOR: Surfaces that willexceed 400 degrees F, conditions where FDA compliance is necessary, aquariums. I'm thinking that this is just the standard printing on the tube though! If any one has a concrete reason for why I shouldn't use this stuff please let me know!! As far as I'm concered It looks just like the silicone that we used at Aquarium Sales & Service, I even spoke to one of the old employes that has been with the company for many years and simply said as along as it's a GE product you should be fine!!

No, there are two types, GE type 1 and GE type 2. Only one is aquarium safe, but I can't remember which one. You can find out this on reefcentral; just do a search on the DIY forum. One of these types has an antimildew additive which is very toxic.

Petwarehouse.com has begun carrying silicone sealer. Aquatic Ecosystems has carried it for a while.

I used the GE Silicon 1 on my overflow boxes and have had no real problems. The silicon turned bright yellow in some spots for a month or two, but is pretty much all gone now....odd, but no other problems...

Well I talked to the head hocho at homedepot(dezavala) and he said that he could order silicone I in black for me! The prob. is that I have to get a case:( The case is gonna run about 55 to 60 big ones, If any one is interesed in buying a tube of off me, I'm just gonna sell them to break even, any takers??? Just post, I'm gonna order regardless!! Their is 12 tubes per case, so about 4 to 5 per tube, I'm over estimating the price, so it'll hopefully be cheaper???
