    Default Unemployed for the Holidays

Merry Christmas to me. I was just informed this morning that my long term contract with my current company is ending on Dec 23. Thye could have at least waited until after the holiday break, but noooo.

So, if anyone knows of a company (big or small, preferrably in Austin metro) in need of a full-time, part-time, or contract Network Admin with Cisco certification, please let me know. I'm not too picky.

I do have some small companies on contract that will give great referrences to anyone that wants one. Just try to keep me in mind.

    Thanks,
    Jim Allen

    Thanks Jason,

I actually sent them my resume yesterday. Just trying to keep all of my options open.
BTW Jason...recognize the zoo's? Thanks, they look awesome in my tank.

Thanks for the sympathies. I guess it just gives me a little more time over the Holiday's to spend more time with my newborn daughter, and more time lurking here.

    Thanks again.

That sucks Jim. I am on a long term contract at a place that is getting bought out - we have a meeting tomorrow morning with HR people from the new company and my guess is myself and one of the other contractors are gettign canned just in time for Xmas. Same skillset - network admin/cisco.

Be glad you're not in Austin - never mind you are - job market here for IT is done, stick a fork in it. If I get laid off again I am going to have to find another line of work - not spending a few grand every year to keep up on certs and training it's just not worth it when they want to ship everything under the sun overseas for 1/2 my pay or less.

Sorry to hear that, hope you find a job soon.

Interesting what Mike was saying since in this months front cover of ComputerWorld they talk about the US Lawmakers pushing to hinder the offshore outsourcing. Interesting article but it will be a while until we see something.
