    Default Port A Collecting Trip

alright all. i wanted to start this thread as a continuation from rwilliams' post about them going to port a this past weekend and bringing back all those great looking specimens!!!

ok so here's what id like to plan. i myself am certified with my basic scuba license and i can rent my equipment from a place i normally go to, ive never been to dive the ocean but ive always wanted to so this'll be a great experience!

so lets see if we cant get some folks interested and make a convoy of sorts down there(mainly cuz i dont know how to get there :P ) and itd be cool to do at least a full day. if anyone is interested in staying the night or maybe camping on the beach or something that would be great too(although its a bit nippy im sure) but id personally like to get in a night dive like rwilliams said(that'd just be plain fun!!!)

so please you guys just chime in with what yall want to do and what times of the year would be good to do it. i know the holidays are upon us and i have no probs waiting for a bigger group at all.

lets do this it just really sounds like a lot of fun!!! so anyone who's interested chime in with your ideas. and this also doesn't necessarily have to be scuba exclusive neither.

Sorry love to, been a while since I went on a dive. Times short have to spend with kids before I leave. Were is it that you wanted to go Port A or Rockport know some people in both places if they are there the weekend you want to go.

    Steve,

You don't need Scuba for collecting on the jetties. Snorkeling gear is fine. Save your money and hook up with a dive charter and go out to the rigs for a dive.

I'd like to go diving, haven't been diving in a few months.

What's the water temperature this time of year in port A and what's the visibility ?

Hopefully it's not as bad as Canyon Lake  .

    Robert,

Here's a link to the NOAA station in Port A. It has the current weather and water temp. It was 67.6 F at 4:00 today.

    Jose,

Sorry about that. I'm fighting off the flu right now and my concentration skills aren't very good right now.
