    Default Orchid Dottyback

Just wanted to show off one of two Orchid Dottybacks I have. Been wanting since May/June!! I do have a pair with one slightly bigger than the other. They went thru a very slight "pecking" order and the smaller one knows that the larger is boss. Now they stay together...Even have a purple firefish that hangs with them. (Pic also included)

They are beautiful...under actinic lights...they glow! We'll see how the "pair" works out. They're doing just fine together. A great addition to my tank. Thanks Ray!

Gee, that purple firefish looks familiar. I think I saw it hanging out in a bag somewhere. Mine is doing well too.

I'm watching the Spurs game and there is someone that looks real familiar calling the game(Shawn Elliot). I wish I had his budget.
I heard he just bought a new house and had new tanks built in.

    Sherri,
So where did you end up getting your Orchid Dottyback from? These fish won't be realy nice to each other. When he is guarding the eggs, he really get her out of the way. Once the eggs hatch, they move in together again. He can cause a split or ragged fins onece in a while but not too much damage.

Minh...Ray here in San Antonio found them for me. They are about 1 1/2" - 2" in length with one slightly bigger than the other. So they are young...hopefully that will help being put together while they are small. We'll see. I have about 140 lbs of rocks to hide in with holes, caves, etc. They have elected to stay on the left side of the tank where there is less traffic from other fish. Will keep an update on how they handle each other. Wanted to thank you also for all the great info you have provided me in the research of these guys. There is definitely a difference in the orchid & the purple dottyback. Any other info on them or experience is appreciated.

    Thanks again Minh...Hope you're up & running again soon...Sherri
