Default I need help, preferably from an interior Designer.

I need help, preferably from an interior Designer.

I'm going to be puting in our house a 375 gallon aquarium that will measure 6 FT tall with the stand and canopy and 8FT long and my girlfriend want's to paint the back wall grey to match our carpet (currently the wall is white like all the other walls) with a white sponge FAUX finish.

    Similair to this:

I'll live with the painting it grey but FAUX finish :eek2: won't this take view away from the tank since it's not a solid color?

The aquarium has a bluebackground already therefore you won't be able to see right threw it.

    The wall measures 11' L X 8' T.

This is what happens when you go to Home Depot to often.. They get all kinds of ideas reading their magazines.

    Thanks.

    Jose,
I think the main thing is the stand & canopy color. It you have a dark stain or paint on the stand and canopy it really shows off the tank. IMO the blue background stands out way more w/ the dark stain. So you already have a great color on the stand. ;)

With the size of your tank and your dark colored stand, I dont think sponge painting would take away from your tank.

Its time to go stain now. :-D I have finished the canopy, but am still working on the stand. I will post some pics for you after I finish. It looks like a new tank.

Well I persuaded her from doing a Faux Finish but I had to let her paint the living room a diferent color. It looks nice and makes everything else stand out.

Shoot me some pics when you're done with it.

I saw the interior design show on cable. To get the effect above you paint with a brush, then use a bigger brush(like the kind you use the shine your shoe) to get that mixed effect. Of course, you should practice in an inconspicuous area 1st. :0)
Look at all those live rocks on the beach at Florida's state park!

Well, since the tank back is a blue, why not incorporate a bit of blue into the wall color scheme, which would accent the tank nicely, plus could give the room a more tranquil feel to it, depending on the blue you choose. Adding to that, having a faux finish could give the tank and room a more "mature" and subtle flow ;)

I've been married 14 years. The best bet is to bargain with her. Let her get her color and you get a calcium reactor.........Or........???????
