    Default Enough GPH???

    55 gallon tank

    I got

    fluval 404 = 340 gph
    other filter = 200 gph
    powerhead #1 = 238
    powerhead #2 = 238
    total = 1016

    so divide that by 55

    1016/55 = 18.5 times an hour.....

    hmmmm sounds like a lot when I was adding it up hehehe

    another question these powerheads I have right above the sand and its blowing the water pretty good now I feel like my snails are in a hurricane should I put them up top?

    To check your flow characteristics, try putting some brine shrimp in the tank and see how the currents take them. Borneman has some inches/sec figures that are more useful than the gph count. they're in his aquarium corals book.

    8540/240=35.80 @ hour. Now that is flow!
