    OK here is the deal..............
i ordered a 40 gal breeder drilled, today for my other sons room
and am wondering on lighting. i have a 175w MH pendant that i was going to retro into a hood and get a 10k plus bulb or if anyone has a
suggestion on another bulb for that setup and if so what to use
as support ... i dont like VHOs as they take up to much room
and PCs cost so much.....just fishing for suggestions :-D

I ran 2 ushio 10K 175W over my 45 breeder. PLENTY of light; depends on what you want to keep, but the single 175 you have should do pretty well. I'd really consider using an ushio rather than XM if you're running a single bulb. The color on XMs is nicer, but you'll get alot more intensity with an ushio. I saw this over Troy's tank recently, he has an XM on one side and an Ushio on the other.
