Greece is home to the rare loggerhead turtle which hatches on the beaches of Zakynthos island at nighttime and heads for the brightest horizon. Usually this would be the sea, but now they're about-turning and heading for the local discos.

"Some turtles crawl up the beach the wrong way and die of dehydration or get eaten by seabirds or dogs. The park isn't working properly" said one conservation worker.

Under normal circumstances the white foaming of the breaking waves and the reflected light of the stars are enough to attract the turtles, but now the allure of the neon lights is proving too tempting for the hard-shelled infants.
