    Default Kalkwasser Question?

I read somewhere that kalkwasser cannot left in an container (float-switch auto-topoff system) for more than a week because the kalkwasser will start to precipitate into unusable calcuim deposits because of the ambient air. Is it because of the Oxygen in the air? Could I continously circulate the water and add CO2 into it to keep this from happening?

There have been a few articles on KW and the effect of air on it. I've heard that after a day or two, the ph and calcium levels in KW really drop due to calcium carbonate precipitation, and then I read something else about a study that proved that wrong. But, kalkreactors eliminate air from the mixture anyway, keeping the mixture sealed and stirred. I wouldn't add any CO2, just use a reactor.
