I did almost exactly the same thing recently; set up a new 100 gallon, transferred stuff from my 45 breeder and 10 gal nano. One thing I've noticed is that the fish are MUCH more comfortable in a bigger tank. As far as the turbulence into the refugium goes, try putting some live rock rubble in the chamber where the water drains from the tank. I did that and it really knocked out a lot of bubbles.

About the only thing different about my sump set up is that I have the drain from the tank going into one side with a tee and ball valve, so I can divert some water into the refugium, which is on the other end of the sump. Then both the refugium area and the the main drain area flow into a central chamber where I have the bulkhead for my return pump. This way I can fine tune the refugium flow.
