Thread: Favorite marine aquarium book?

  1. #1

    Default Favorite marine aquarium book?

What is the best marine aquarium book you have read? Is it a general
care guide, or is it focused specifically on inverts and or corals? How much did it cost and where did you get it :?:

My personal favorite so far is ”Aquarium Corals” By Eric Borneman.
It acts as a great reference guide, helping to aid with my learning of coral species. Being as I am a newbe to marine care. 6 months into my first tank, w/ a little over a year debating and studying before ever setting up the tank.

    Thanks,

The Conscientious Marine Aquarist by Bob Fenner... I got it here in Houston at Neptune's Garden

I am more of a fish person and when it came to the information that he compiled into this book, I was pretty impressed. Many of the books out there for any newbie to pick up and read are crap, let alone outdated (I am not talking about the most recent publications like Eric and Scott Micheals). When I first got into the hobby eons ago, the book available were limited on care, let alone specific suggestions and care requirements for certain species of fish. This particular book is now outdated since it was wrote just before PC lighting got big, but he says he is in the process of revising for a new edition. I recommend this book to any aquarist, new or old.

    Isis,

Great pick. That is my next favorite book in my little collection. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good clam book?

    Thanks,

Fenner's book is great. An oldie but goodie is Martin Moe's "Saltwater Aquariums beginner to breeder" that is still a solid starter book.

I have the 4 volume set of the 'Modern Coral Reef Aquarium' and though it goes all over the place it is a really cool set of books though the presentation makes it hard to find what you need.

John Tullock wrote a book called 'Natural Reef Aquariums' that is also pretty good.
