aiptasia

I have a few aiptasia (spreading) and wondering if pepermints are only
shrimp that like them(if so ill pick up pronto). i would rather not buy a copperband
(tank too small . . .40 gal.). i read one of the recent threads
concerning this, and was wondering if there are any other ways to
take care of these pests (could i spray them with concentrated magnesium
(tech M), or some other additive (don't have kalk currently, tho do have liquid reactor . . . kent marine)

Pepermints are cheap and sometimes go after apstasia I've heard that they can also go for feather dusters and other tube worms so I've never tried them, I've used stop apstasia and it worked pretty good and didnt harm any of my coral. You can also try injecting lugol's or fresh water.

I heated my Kalk & injected them...they melted... But still...I haven't gotten rid of them all...They come back.

also you can get a copperband butterfly they are pertty fish, and eat aptasia they are cool fish but nip some corals

I kalked a few aptasias that appeared on some new corals I got and had a blast! They dont eveen know whats coming as the needle gets closer, closer then you see their guts fill with white paste. Of the ones I kalked I dont see any signs that they will come back. The kalk left a little blob like toothpaste where the aptaisa was but no signs of the buggers! Right now this is my only option for them until I remove the dragon wrasse from my reef, then I will stock a few pep shrimps to prevent reoccurence.

these guys recede into the rock really fast, and most are quite small
(less than 1/4 inch diameter, although one is larger. . . the big mama)

I had one about an inch I had to cut him in half for the copperband to eat him, and I know that spred them but ah he still ate them all :lol:

I have a racoon butterfly that eats them along with other things. I'll rent him to you if you'd like. $5. a week, but $20 if he dies. He isn't a new arrival, I got him from a fellow reefer a couple weeks ago that had him in his tank for a couple years. This guy also eats flake food, and anthing else you throw in.
