    Default New to the area

Greetings! I've just moved to the San Antonio area, and finally got my saltwater tank set up. I am leaning towards FOWLR.

    Tank is set as follows:

    55 Gallon
    1 Seaclone 100 Skimmer
Penguin Bio Wheel Filter - No bio Wheel - Only to aerate & move water
    45 lbs of dead rock
7 lb chunk of live rock
    45 lbs of crushed coral
20lbs of new live sand from the store

I've had things up and running for about one week so far.
I don't have a saltwater testing kit, the LFS is out of them,
and I plan on getting one ASAP. I've got a freshwater Ammonia kit,
and am getting some readings on it, but I can't be exactly sure yet
    what the true levels are.

I'd appriciate and helpful hints or criticism at all.

I've made a few trips to Alamo Aquatics in San Antonio,
and they seemed fairly helpful. Are there any other decent
    stores in the SA area?

    Thanks

    SuperX

    Default Test Kits

    Welcome SuperX

San Antonio can always use another marine hobbyist.

You can use almost any freshwater test kit for Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate with saltwater. You would not use the freshwater Ph kit because the range usually different.

    Good Luck

WELCOME superx! You have just joined the best group in the country! ReefCentral is good if you need to "ask the Dr." but the rest of the forums you had better be a genius and ready to fight.....LOL..... Anyway, I think you will find a great group of people here that love our hobby!
